turning AT gauges into MT ones
I am doing a gauge swap and the AT gauges are like $40 and the MT ones are $100+. could I just take out the extra bulbs and sharpie over the PRN123? would it look right? I don't have access to the two panels to see if it would look ghetto or decent.

As long as it doesn't throw some sort of fit because the indicator wire isn't there, just leave it alone. You can pull the bulb out if you want, but I'd just leave it alone rather than potentially create an issue by opening the cluster up.

i just slipped some tape behind it cause i didn't like the way it looks. the only real problem you will have is the rpm reading. if you look at each one, you'll notice the manual is more stretched out. so you will have an inaccurate rpm gauge.

Hmm well according to gearbox, who has ALOT of experience in that stuff, it wont sweep properly, like 7k in an auto is like 5 k in a manual... I can't say for sure, I'm just questioning it.

gearbox IS CORRECT. I have an auto and I bought some mt gagues for like 10 bucks and i put them on. The tach is slower than it was before. I used to mark 3000 at 70 and now at 70 is like 2400. I am telling you it will be off!1

okay i think there is some confusion going on. when you say "gauges" do you mean an actual gauge cluster swap? or did you mean to say indiglo gauge overlay kit using the same cluster? if you just mean the indiglo, then yes the rpm will be different and not accurate. if you actually swap the gauge cluster, then the rpm won't be messed up as tinman said already.

OK, i'm the original poster. In my MT coupe, would an AT gauge cluster with a MT cluster gauge overlay= a stock MT cluster as far as functionality.

Holy crap thats like a puzzle. If gearbox is correct then no, because the actual CLUSTER itself is where the signal goes. So you'd get an AT sweep instead of a MT sweep, since the cluster is from an auto.

the signal is given to the cluster. every cluster will work since there is only a signal being given by the car. the problem happens when you add a gauge overlay face to a different cluster than what it was made for.

lmfao this is hilarious. Will my auto cluster out of a kia spectra work if I put 7thgen MT indiglos on it?

well you could find the wire diagrams and try to see if the cluster even fits in your car. but again the indiglo will have different rpm because it was made for a different cluster.
