I think it is because of the diy about using a vafc instead of the ecu swap. I was wondering the same thing in a round about way. I own a vafc for the head swap but will the emanage serve the same purpose with regards to the vtec.

i would suggest that you use the stock ex ecu + emanage.
I know that i have found that the drivability is much better with the ex ecu + D17A2 motor than with the lx ecu + D17A2.
The car is much more responsive with the ex ecu compared to the lx. I believe it would be due to the different ignition maps due to the cam dynamics. The low-vtec cam profile is different than the normal lx cam. So the ignition map is slightly off. Also, the high-vtec cam profile is much different than the lx cam, so its ignition map is also off. But on top of that, the lx fuel map is different, so its fuel delivery is also off.
Using the ex ecu + emanage will just put you that much closer to the perfect tune. Plus i am getting 50 miles more per tank using the ex ecu rather than the lx ecu.
