Stupid question but... where is the distributor??
Im spraying my engine bay tomorrow morning and I want to make sure I cover it so I dont mess things up........obviously not very mechancially inclined, I could easily point it out in my prelude but a quick look at the civic and i wasnt sure??

I would cover the tranny dipstick. It is very flimsy and wouldnt be suprised if water got in there. other then that, just the intake. I never cover the battery or alternator, I just dont spray directly on the alternator.

just spray the whole damn thing.. think about it.. ever drive your car in the rain the get home and open the hood... literally (depending on variable factors such as if you have certain tire well and front bumper pieces left or how heavy the rain is) then your motor is all covered in water... alternator and everything... so to me if you have an aftermarket intake just take the filter off then spray the motor.. if your still stock then just spray away

yeah... I wouldn't worry about cover anything that is stock if you are just spraying. If you're using a cleaner that's different. Also, do you a high power sprayer like a car wash or something, that can tear the wires out of the sockets, I've done it and it sucks tring to figure out what wire it is and all that.
