rattle

i know this has been covered but i finally got around to trying to solve the problem. I kept hearing annoying rattles coming from my exhuast and it sounded like the heatshield was doing it? Well i took off the whole heatshield, and took off the 2 bolts again off the cat and put them on tight and i started teh car and at first it sounded good , but then it came back and i cant stand it anymore. I was wondering if anyone here knows what else to do? I remember when i first got the car i took of my exhuast from the cat (vp) and i now am wondering if maybe there was an exhuast gasket of some sort in between. If not then what else can it be. Every time i get out of first or reverse its makin this rattle and its gotten to the point were my family calls me an okie and people everywhere stare at my car in a bad way like its ghetto.

check your cat converter. I see this all the time at my work. If you rev up the engine, do you hear it? the insides of your cat might be gone.

Also try getting under the car and hitting everything with a mallet and see where the rattle is coming from.

try checking under the car when you leave it at reverse,

the pipes flex when you put it in and out of gears, causing a pipe or your exhaust itself to touch the plates causing it to rattle, my accord back then had the same problem, and i had to get a flex pipe to fix the sound, either that or get lower hangers to keep the rear side of the exhaust away from the heat plates. but my vehicle was lower than 1.7 back then so lower hangers was a nono.
