Shitty start up after rain

I been taking note of this for some time now and I find that my car (Maxima beater) has trouble starting in the morning after a rainy night.

When I go out to crank it it goes like "grr grr grr grr grr grr grr grr grr grr" and I give it some gas and it fires up. When it fires up it seems to have a really shitty idle... like its almost gonna die or something.

However, when the car warms up and everything it goes back to normal. After driving for a cuople minutes I can shut the car off and fire it back up no problems.

WTF can this be?

did y0u splice into your o2 sensor.......???..............i did that once for my a/f gauage. and after it rain'd my car did the same thing....come to find out water got into the seal i made. and fryed my primary 02 sensor...... simple test you can do ....pull the o2 sensor appart. were you plug it into the harness (as if you were going to change it..) then start the car........dont worry about the a/f mix.. the honda dealer said it was safe to run off of the secondary ( at the Cat) for a short while....if it fix's it then i've just solved your problem..if not.........sorry.

using proper motor oil?

im sure philly has a very cold climate, try using a thinner motor oil or the recommended rating on the manual.

if the motor oil is fine and correct, then my next guess would be the alternator. theres a procedure to see if your alt is working fine and the procedure is to start the car and disconnect the postitive ro negative battery terminal. not sure if its the neg or pos... someone confirm?

Tomola is an unknown quantity at this point
It think your just experiencing a normal occurrence with bolt-ons. Until the engine has reached normal operating temperatures, you would indeed be experiencing your above mentioned problems. It happens to me also.

Wait a second.... first off this isnt for the Civic. Its for my 92 Maxima beater.

How could it be the alternator? I didnt know it had something to do with starting the car up, I thought start up was all battery.

I always use the same oil.... 10W-40... the car has close to 230k miles so I use an oil a little bit thicker then suggested in the owners manual.

I talked to a friend of mine and he said that the wiring might be getting wet somewhere and amkes the car difficult to start. Thats why after the car warms up everything goes back to normal. Can anyone confirm this hypothesis?
