Gotta little problem and I need some technical advise.

First off, where in the vehicle are the speed sensors for our speedometer? Are they located somewhere in the drivetrain/tranny or somewhere else on the vehicle? If they are on the front wheels, which I'm damn sure of, what could cause them to be wrong besides tire size?

The reason I have these questions is I have two speeding tickets, both 89 in a 70. Yes, I was speeding.........and yes, I'm trying to do the right thing and take them to court..........to weasel my way out of them.

I have a buddy that if I ask him nicely enough may be able to draw me up some receipts of having my speedometer recalibrated for 215/40/17 tires, which would throw it off from stock. That could explain my going for over a year with no tickets . Of course now I have switched back to 205/60/15's since I'm riding on 15" 99-00 SI wheels.

So I'm wondering how our car's speed is measured, and could it have been aggected by tire changes or a tranny replacement. I had my tranny replaced last July and something could have gone wrong.....causing my speed sensor to be off a little

I'm gonna try to convince a judge that this is my problem, and both times I had my cruise set on 82ish to admit to speeding but not at an amount that will go on my insurance. Any help will be much appreciated............rep and points to those that help.
