Rep Power: 0 dx to ex swap info...
I was wondering if i did a complete swap, if the mounts would match up. Stupid question but i need to know so i can get the mounts from the guy too. Also does the aem cai dx version fit into the ex. They sell two different intakes for each but would they fit. If i do the swap, looks like i have to change the entire exhaust huh...if im wrong, please tell me. Would the ecu from the dx work with the ex. It probably work but would it work effectively. Thanks for all the help...This is the car that its going into...

Rep Power: 0 the complete motor with everything needed to swap is only 400 bucks. I do have a k20 in mind for the future but for 400 bucks, thats a pretty good up in hp. Plus the sohc vtec motors have a lot more parts for them than the dx's have. My coupe motor has 36000 miles on it and the sohc vtec has only 2000 miles on it. In my opinion, WHy Not?

Rep Power: 0 I would get the mounts and play it safe. you would need the header and the cat from an ex model you can go to a junk yard with a hack saw or something similar and cut it off just after the cat a muffler shop can weld it in place for you. You can use your dx ecu but the vtec wont kick in unless you get a controller you would also need to up the fuel from what your dx ecu is programmed for. I would recoment getting the engine harness and the ecu from the ex. you could just get a piggy back fuel system that has the vtec build in like the vafc from apexi and wire that up to your dx ecu and it will work fine.

Rep Power: 0 and to prodigy everyone cant afford a k20 swap there is adifference between 4000 for the k20 swap and 400 for the dx to ex swap. Be more realistic when making suggestions to other members. everyone is not rich and loaded with money

Rep Power: 0 the vtec solenoid is on the back of the head on the tranny side. The vfac splices into your exsisting ecu wires. but since you do not have the vtec wires in the engine bay you will need to run those to the solenoid. You can pick up a vfac on ebay for about 250. It will work great for future mods since you can reprogram the fuel. That is the way I would go.

Rep Power: 0 before installing the vfac I would recomend getting a helms book for your car. This is the manuals that the dealership uses. They are like 75 buck from there website. Well worth it though if you plan on doing the work on your car yourself. It gives you everything from wire schematics to torque specs to a complete engine rebuild it is like 1500 pages of info. I just got my helms book the other day and it is awesome.
