Exclamation Clutch or Manual Trans problem???

I think my 01 manual trans. (45k) is starting to bite the dust. Going from 1st to 2nd, there is some gear clash going on which is nothing new. However, when shifting from 1st to 2nd (most of the time) or even 3rd to 2nd, the car seems to rock as if the engine is hesitating, but its not the engine.

I'm thinking it may be the clutch, but i don't romp on it and I've never had a clutch fail on me with anything I've driven before. Maybe its a 2nd gear synchro?

Anyone have an info on this? Thanks!

It's been known that 01 and 02 trannys suck... There is a thread in Tech Stuff about 03-04 swaps for people like you.

Well, check the thread again... mainly pages 3 and 4 cause they're talking about about Moly-sumthin or other... I never heard of it but it's basically special lube that you add to your regular 90w that helps the gears shift smoother or sumthin. Check it out

Also, it seems alot of people in that thread know what they're talking about and they might not have seen yours. So post your question in there

Yes, try some Moly in the gearbox. It won't hurt it. Then post back in a good 100 miles or so. I got 100,000 mile beaters shifting good with that stuff. Moly is a superlubicant, and cannot hurt your transmission. Do NOT put it into an AUTO. I actually run Moly based engine oil in my cars. Check out Lubro-Moly.

Whats up man, my buddy is a Honda tech and he droce my car yesterday and i've been feeling the same thing you have (01). When you go into a slow turn and drop to 2nd, the car kinds of bu bu bu buuuuuu, stuters. I have no griding but he said the hestiation was just the stock clutch getting weaker, he said if you can chirp 2nd it's good, ha ha

I've never been able to chirp into 2nd! In my mothers CRV I can chirp into 2nd! I've got only 30,000km's and my clutch is almost dead, I think the clutch's in our cars are quite poor. Will be installing my new Exedy Stage 1 soon.

you think our clutches are poor? opposite for me, ive taught 3 people stick in my car and quite frankly im amazed that it's still good. Although I've been thinking of buying a new clutch and having on the ready, cuz i know i wont get much more life out of my stock one. The transmission on the other hand...thats just a different story. Everyone knows that 2nd gear is the worst of all.
