Question Engine died while driving, D17A, sedan yr 2002

While driving in heavy traffic, the engine suddenly died. The check engine also lit up. After a while & crank back, the engine runnig fine. It will happen again. Seem that, this problem happen if the engine running hot.

After replacing Spark plugs and Fuel filter, the problem remain. I'm trying to simulate like fuel pump and ignition is failed, but the engine died without check engine lit-up. Seem that, nothing wrong with fuel system & ignition. I'm thinking to bring to the shop for check error code. Any fellow experienced the same?
Tx.

sorry bout that mang, it happened to my car before too... and just to let you know, our civics has been recalled for the defective fuel pump that causes the car to die out... you might wanna bring that to the dealership before you hurt yourself or others...

Are you sure the engine died with check engine light up? I'm try to simulate the pump fail, however the check engine doesn't come up.!

even if the CEL didn't go off prior to shutting off, it's still maybe the primary cause of it... i.e. ECU senses no fuel, CEL goes off, car died... the reason was they said there could have been some water in the fuel pump, now it that water went to your fuel filter and or to your engine yes, your engine will die out... bring it to PEPBOYS and get it scanned, they won't charge you anything, well atleast here where I live doesn't charge... and let us know the trouble code...

How many miles are on your car? Go get the ECU scanned at autozone or something and quit guessing. Did you reset your ecu yet?

My car clocked at 133k km, heavily used for almost 3 yrs. Ecu has been reset twice. Will let all know the finding. At our country, scanning is chargeable at USD20.
Thanks all for avise.

Had the resolved. Found the TDC sensor faulty. The code say 08-2 TDC Sensor (1) NOISE. Now, the engine running well.
