what trannys will bolt up to d17?

Hello all,
I apologize for my simple question, but I have searched and searched and havent found anything that has told me exactly what is interchangeable. My friend has an 03 civic LX and his tranny is grinding a bit and hes looking to replace it...Im not sure what is interchangable, Im an accord person really, and know about F/H series interchangability, but all this civic stuff i am a complete noob. Thanks for all your replies, I appriciate it.

if it is grinding in all gears, tell him to first try changing the fluid. It is probably low.

Nothing because the D17 use cable links and the old D16s and D15s use shift rods. The old trannys do bolt up but you would have to figure out how to link it up. Besides the D17A2 tranny has the sportiest gear ratios. So if he really wants to swap trannys tell him to get a D17A2 tranny.

a d17 specific transmission will fit afaik we have no aftermarket transmission aside from tranny building from places like level10.
