Gauge light out......HELP
Gauge light out......HELP
Hey all!
It snowed a little bit today and I turned on the car and one of the lights under the speedometer. My question to you all is do you think it could be a fuse or could a light have blown? What type of lighting do we all have?
Any helpful input is appreciated!
Brian

Your profile says 2001 civic. Those clusters are lit by 5 bulbs in the back of the cluster. If you know how to take out the cluster, I can see if I have a spare bulb to send you.

Well yes actually for the 01 they use #74 instrument cluster bulbs. I believe I've seen em at auto parts stores. The 02 cluster has bigger ones, not sure which size.

Two screws on the top of the black bezel, then stick your fingers in and work them to the bottom. Pull the plastic straight towards you hard. There will be some glue. Tilt down the steering wheel and pull it out. Now there are screws holding on the gauge cluster. One on top, one on each of the sides. Take those out and unplug the two top connectors to release the cluster. No need to take off the clear plastic cover, just flip the cluster and look at the back. There are twist on bulbs that you can remove. Just gotta figure out which is the burned one.
Went to Autozone and out of all the bulbs there, 74 was the only one out of stock. Looks like I will be picking a few up tomorrow. While I have the cluster pulled out I might as well replace all of them. Again thanks for everyones help!

it happened to me as well...have you tried hitting your cluster? from what i've read here i actually gave it a try after i did, it worked...but it became a hassle for me to hit it all the time, so what i did was i just took a bulb from another slot and placed that bulb into that hole and the other bulb into the other hole (basically i just switched em around) and it i had no problems ever since...
waitaminit lemme guess where your "burned out" (or not) bulb is located...bottom left hand side right by the 8-9k range of the tach?
