my headlights switch is broken

hey everyone, i was wondering if someone could give me some help on replacing the switch to turn on the head lights on and off and highbeams and such. I was driving the other day and i saw smoke coming out from the switch and my headlight stopped working. my highbeams won't come on either. is it the switch or is it a relay or what? I'm really lost when it comes to electrical stuff. so if anyone can give me some insight on the problem, it would be very much appreciated.

call the dealer that you got the car from. There was a recall on this exact problem. They should fix it for free.

if he did not get a recall letter honda might not work on it. Unless your dealer is an angel, then they might do it for good will.

I had the same thing happen to my car. I bought the switch ($35) and repaired the wiring myself. About 6 months later, I got the recall notice. They went in and repaired everything by the book and reimbursed me for the switch.

The dealer has kits for the warranty jobs. See if you can buy one of those (I don't know if they sell them to walk ins or not) & a switch. The parts people should be able to get you what you need if you tell them your car info. The kit replaces the connector by splicing into the existing wires. Pretty easy. If you're not into doing it yourself, or if they won't sell you one of the kits, I'd recommend just having the dealer do it. You'll probably be looking at $50 in parts and 1 hour of labor.

If you are still under warranty and you did not mod anything to those lights or switches then Honda should honor your warranty. If they insist of not doing work on it then go to another dealer.

Your problem may not be related to the headlight switch recall. So don't even mention this to them.
