03 Cluster Conversion (Q's) If you own a 03+ EX Please look!)
I put the 03 gauges in today, everything seemed to be fine but there are two issues now:
1. When the headlights arnt on the gauges are very bright, but when i turn it once or twice they get dim (as well as the interior lights)
2. My battery is dead. I am hoping something shorted while I was putting it together and killed the battery, not that there is still a short
.
Can anyone with an 03+ EX verify that is how the lights are supposed to work? I think the battery solution is unrelated.
Another thing is the gas seems to make a slight clicking sound for a few seconds (like its trying to go down and cant anymore) then it goes up to normal, is that normal?

The gauge needles should click when the car is turned off.
On the newer clusters, the gauges stay lit when the lights are off and dim when you turn them on. Have you played with the dimmer ****?

Ya that's one thing I don't like about it. They made it hard to see during the day, so that's why they have them light up really bright. Accords are the same way.
Actually on the 03+ gauges there are two settings for your brightness. If you turn your headlights on you can adjust the brightness for when you headlights are on, if you turn them off then you can adjust the brightness for when they are off. So it gives you the option of how you would like it set up.

List of problems to fix:
"Cruise" Icon comes on for about 5 sec when car is first started.
A key icon come on when I turn cruise control on.
Stock cdplayer no longer works
Keyless entry doesnt work.
Got a jump and let her run for abit hopefully all is well now...

Interesting. I know keyless and deck were tied together in older civics, and I have no clue why the gauge cluster has anything to do with it. The key icon is the immobilizer and normally stays on if the wrong key is used and the system is active (disables starter).

I had the wires swapped for Cruise control and immobilizer, fixed.
I replaced a fuse under the hood labeled "backup" and cdplayer/keyless works.

Next problem, my cdplayer isnt accepting the code inside the glovebox, wonderful!

The story of your progress was very enlightening. Now if I can only get my hands on an 03 cluster, as well as the ability to change the milage on the odo, I'd be doing the same swap. rep up!
