OEM fog light install?
Holy crap I read the installation instructions, and it's way too complicated! Has anyone installed fogs, and how did you do it, because there's 12 pages of instructions and taking apart half the car to wire everything.

i've installed a pair of OEM fogs on my friend's car. its not hard but time consuming. take off the bumper and cut out the part of the bumper where the fogs are going to go (hardest part). then from there just plug in the harnesses and ur good to go. what exactly are you having problems at?

I installed Aftermarket Fogs. I'm not to keen on electrical stuff, so I had my dad help me.
But I think they need to be rewired.
Anyway... I only had to take the front bumper off, also I wired them into my parking lights, so that they just go on with the parking lights, and I don't have a switch mounted anywhere.

I'm wondering why the instructions have you removing the center console and glove box to run wires or something? What really do I need to do? Cut bumper is easy, and then it starts talking about relays and where to put everything and I'm lost. I thought you would just run wires to the switch and plug stuff in.

hey dude not to jack ur thread or go OT, but if you figure out how the fogs can be switched to come on w/ parking lights instead of headlights lemme know... cause i had mine done at the dealer and im curious as to whats involved, my guess is it's too much work for me to be interested in attempting it, a friend of mine said on his probe it was just a wire behind his switch or something... but let me know if u get the chance/notice how its done, otherwise dont worry about it.. good luck on the install dude.. if i was you i'd figure it out on ur own if u know how to mount there should only be like 3 wires right? like a power, relay and ground, correct? I've only done aftermarket fogs on my old car and they were cheap crap, but im assuming if it was only the 3 wires u'd have done it by now... so nevermind

I think they are talking about taking off the center console and the glove box, so that you can install the relay behind the dash, and put the OEM fog light switch where it goes.
I just skipped the switch, my fog lights ONLY come on when the parking lights are on, that its, can turn them on seperatly.
I Installed my relay under my front bumper, on a flat peice of sheet metal that is under the passenger side headlight (or there abouts)
I was able to install everything with out anything going inside my car. All the wiring is in the front end.
Wish I had pictures, sorry dude, I looked at the front bumper cover DIY picture and the horn install pictures, couldn't see the spot in those pictures.

I'm just really feeling lazy and need these for winter, so it's prolly going to the dealer.
Isn't there a problem with tapping those tiny turn signal wires with fog lights? Seems like the current draw would overheat the harness.

That sounds right. I bought oem fogs just now for $230, and install they want $170, so it's right around $400. They better be worth it!

You shouldn't tap the fogs into the parking light! Just buy the switch it's just another 18 bux! Takes about an hour tops to install the foglights, and you really don't need to remove the center console.

Well it's a simple idea in theory. Basically make a simple circuit with the lights and a switch. Wire from + battery to switch, switch to fogs, then ground the fogs. It would be an independent circuit tho, kinda like wiring washer leds or something.

i still dont get what your problem is. its really not hard, just time consuming. like someone said before, you dont have to take off the center console to install it. they probably just want you to get the switch in there.
correct me if i'm wrong, but your foglight kit comes with a long wiring harness right? it has all the connectors thoughout and is is the plastic tubing gromet stuff?
eh, too bad theres no meet or i could possibly help you.

I think I could prolly do it, but I'm just lazy and don't want to go out there all day taking off bumpers, cutting holes, running more wires, blah blah. And plus it's cold outside. Taking the interior apart is nothing for me. It's been stripped more times than it should be. Now if you wanna drive down here and install for me, I can give you some $$

haha, you live in champagne right? or somewhere like that? i dont know, i only see you in the meets we have. i really have no business up there so i dont think i would be going up there. i guess its not a bad idea to get it installed by the dealer. but think about the $$$ you could save and the self-satisifaction of accomplishment.
