high idle problems?
hey all, i heard that the idle for our cars is supposed to be at 700rpm +/-50. my car idles over 800 usually, sometimes at 900. so i searched and found gearboxes post about how to adjust idle, unfortunately it didnt lower mine. the only thing i could do was raise it, so its as low as itll go. and ideas on how i could lower it down to around 700?

yeah i tightened it and thats what i thought it was at first. so i loosened it past even the normal tension (because i loosened it bit by bit but the idle was still too high). but the rpms didnt change. any suggestions what i should do?

i dont think i could loosen it anymore, i actually loosened it as far as it would go and left it like that just to make sure that wasnt it. car was still idling over 800.

is your car fully warmed up? My car idles pretty high when its cold, try readjusting everything once you get your car's temp up to normal, maybe go around the block a few times, then adjust it...

yeah its warmed up, ive driven like 20 miles and it was still high. but today it was wierd cause it was idling right around 750. but then later on it went back up to like 900 then back down to like 800. this is for like 10 minutes at a time since i was driving quite a bit in the city.
