Question Air Intake / RPM questions!

ok, first question....what RPM should the car idle at.....i coulda swore it used to be like 1400 or so, now (after a service) it idles at like 700-800....is this bad at all, or is it supposed to be like this? is it hurting my acceleration....plz do tell....

second question....I am planning to put on a high performance air intake on my car....what will it do for me and what brand are good?? keep in mind i dont want to spend an assload of money and i dont want something uber complicated!! thanx a million yall !!

1400 maybe when you first start out cold but it will come down to around 800 once it warms up.

Normal idle in neutral is 700rpms. The words "high performance" and "air intake" shouldn't be used in the same sentence. If anything, you will lose torque with an intake to gain a few hp top end. Not worth it at all, even for free.

other than losing some weight i would say no.
sorry to bust your bubble but if you read through the forms you will find out that our cars really don't like aftermarket upgrades, as far as performance.
alot of people say that they regret in putting money towards performance and that stock is better. i say the only reason to get a intake is if you want some 'vroom' to your vic, but be prepared to see slim to none in performance, and you might even lose some precious hp and tq.

you want an air performace intake? there are none, and you aren't going get any performance out of it if you find one. learning to drive your car to its full potential and learning the limits of your car is the only way you'll be able to get over having an auto. you won't have to deal with wasting money on performance parts that won't get you anywhere.
i'm not the one asking stupid questions for a damn auto.

loose weight.. thats a good one, u could gut ur car to save a couple lbs, wont be really noticable tho.. friend of mine came into town w/ his room mate who has a gutted celica w/ racing seats, feels fast, i know its not tho, but he gutted it and has racing seats/ harnesses, the seats and harnesses give u the is illusion the right word here... well neway, makes it feel faster.. and being gutted its quite a bit ligther, i think he's in the 2k-2200 range.. or something .. not sure tho.. but gutting the car and making it ligther would help some..
