O2 Sensor extended
O2 Sensor extended
I'm ready to install Kamikaze headers on my car, but I noticed that the O2 sensor won't reach to where it goes connected. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to extend the O2 sensor or do I need to buy a longer one? My car's a 04 LX manual. Thanks.
Mike.

Thanks for your reply X. I remember reading a thread you had about the headers and all, but I am really a rookie at wiring and I'm afraid I might do something wrong. I forgot to mention that my Kami. header came with an O2 sensor(the one on top) but it's on the right side of the header
instead of on top like the OEM headers have it. I was thinking about cutting the header's O2 sensor and put it together with the OEM one that way it's longer and it'll reach the blue plug; will this be ok to do? It sounds kind of what you are saying, just want to make sure. PLease let me know, thanks again.

well i got obx full exhaust.. it has 2 O2 sensors on the head and one on the bottom after the cat.. ur very shortest O2 sensor will go onto ur head and ur longest one which u will have to extend anyways will have to go after the cat... from what i learned the first O2 sensor measures the fuel mixture and the 2nd O2 sensor measures the efficency of the catalytic converter... but when u do cut the wires make sure u cut one wire then extend it and connect it... then cut the next one then connect it and extend it.. see ehat im saying.. that way u dont mix up the wires
I know exactly what you are saying. You mean connecting the cables exactly with each other corresponding one another. That's what I had in mind. Thanks for clearing it up X.
Appreciated.
Not sure if this will help you. as you know, I have an LX too and an EX OBX header, connected to an EX randomtech high-flow cat but I never had to splice any wire at all. I was able to extend it without cutting it.
how did u extend those wires without putting on extra wires.. my wire was about 2 1/2 feet short of reaching the cat so i had to.. i couldnt find any O2 extender kit with the matching plugs or anything.. my cat was actually under the car so thats why i had to extend it.. but if ur cat is closer to the head then i could see why it would reach

My wires won't reach the plug since both holes on my header are to the right making the distance to the plug longer and therefore having to add new wires.

my OBX header didnt have any O2 bung on it. So, first O2 sensor is connected to the upper part of the flange in RandomTech piping. The second is right after the cat on the randomtech piping.
The longer sensor wire as you already know it, can be extended by pulling the tab that is securing it to the engine bay. Then ran it underneath.
Im sorry if my explanations cant be of any help. I should just take a pic from under the car.
xproductionz, we have the same location of the cat. RandomTech application is for EX so every location of the O2 bungs are OEM.

i dont know.. i got 3 bong hole on mines ..2 on head and one on bottom .. but if also pulled the clip off and it didnt reach as well so i dont know about urs.. maybe cause they made urs purposely like that or something but u got an LX and i got a DX so i dont know... maybe ur years it is longer.. i got an 01 and the other guy has an 04... dont know man??
ok, here's a picture of my header:

You see how both holes are to the the right like I was saying? This is why I have to extend my cables to reach the OEM plug.
