Question about my new cold air intake
hey guys, my names Brandon
Im new to your forum, this looks like a very nice place to meet friends and learn some new stuff so I figured id post....
anyways, I gotta 2001 civic EX
I just put a cold air intake system in..
Before I put my cold air intake in, I removed my air box on the side of my STOCK air intake system about 3 days ago before I got my cold air intake.
I found that when I did that I gained so much horsepower its not even funny, other than the fact that I had a big gaping hole on the side of my air intake, I was burning alot of fuel for some reason. So I said hell I am going to go ahead and get my cold air intake becouse I was gonna do this anyways.
So yesturday I went and got an intake, when I installed it, I found that I feel like I have less horsepower and less acceleration..... I dont know if its just mental or if I really am....
So I am linking up some pictures. If someone could look at them and tell me what they think I would appriciate it. thanks
Intake overview:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/therea...&.dnm=2073.jpg
Filter, DAMN close to the battery, (MIGHT be why, its not fully sucking in air, dunno)
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/therea...&.dnm=1f6f.jpg
From throttle body, (Had to go buy a 90 degree flex pipe to modify this becouse I couldnt find anyone that had 2001 cold air intakes without looking on the internet, im impatient lol, BTW this rubber is VERY strong and does not kink)
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/therea...&.dnm=bb46.jpg
I also capped off the hole for the sensor thats not long enough with a rubber cap and a bracket
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/therea...&.dnm=9461.jpg
Instead I drilled a small hole in the rubber 90 I got and TIGHHHHHTLY pushed the sensor in, along with tape to be on the safe side
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/therea...&.dnm=bb46.jpg
And another veiw:

thanks alot you guys for the help,
take care,
Brandon

give me a break...what ur "butt dyno" says and what actually is happening are quite different
what you have is RAM AIR INTAKE. not cold air. i can imagine u were burning very rich...you had notthing filtering your air. fukctard.

Actually its a Short ram intake. Ram Air is forced into the intake, usually from the front of the car or top of the hood. No need to freak out on the kid, he's new cut him some slack. Besides, its a low budget mod. It looks descent and it probably gave him better throttle response. Maybe not more horsepower but hey anything is better than nothing. Also most of the cold air intakes for our car sit right beside the exhaust anyways so why spend 200 dollars on one just to suck hot air in anyways.

Sorry about that last blow noob...mainly, you buy an intake for the sound...the difference in horsepower is minimal...mostly in your mind...that is why I bought the short ram...I wanted that sound...blahhhhhhhh!!!!!
They should measure our cars in hamster power. That way it would sound like more. Also THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT YOU GOT 20 HP FROM A CAI from even an SI. Was that meant for a joke or something lol Unless it is connected to a turbo, or is plumbed with a nitrous nozzle you can show me all the videos you want and I still will not believe you.

Someone please host it just for the hell of it...unless you have an RSX Type S...then I believe you!
