electrical switches
Warning, sorry for my crappy spelling...
Ok... I saw a sweet civic that has switches on the center consol in the little dip under the e-brake. Right now I have an indiglo honda H and a LED exhaust tip. They are both wired to my license plate so they only turn on when I have at least my parking lights on. Problem is, I don't know how strict the po-po's are gonna be in my area, and I don't want to end up with another ticket for a stupid reason. Does anyone know how to install switches in the compartment and run the pre-existing wiring to be able to control them with the switches. Both have teir own fuses, so I don't know if there is a length issues with that either...
Sum 1 please help...
Oh yeah... BTW this is kind of what I am looking to do... I need at least 2 because I could more than likely wire the emblem and the tip to the same switch, but I am also looking at installing underglow once I get my body kit installed...
Thanx,
Jaymz

Basically you make a circuit.
Power wire from battery positive to switch. Then another wire from the switch to the power wire of the indiglo emblem. Then you just connect the ground of the emblem to the car body (metal). And the switch will have two terminals to connect wires coming from the battery and to the emblem. Then when you flip the switch, it connects the two and supplies power.

So it's power into switch, line out to emblem/tip and then use the my original method for grounding right? But what about the fuses that the tip and emblem currently have, are they like an amp and need to be so many inches from the source of power or am I free to have an excess amount of line between the switch and the fuse?

Technically the fuse should be as close to the power source as possible. So you could put one on the power line near the car battery to protect your switch. If the emblems and tip already have fuses, it should be fine. Fuses are just to protect your equipment in case of a power surge. I wouldn't worry too much. The fuses they come with should be sufficient.

I think so, but I still like the idea of using these for my electrical seeing as how I don't have N/X in my car. I was just saying that this is something that I would like to concider modeling the switches that I want to install after.
