Unhappy Shifter is out of wack.... Read please, searched....

My G/F has a 2001 Civic Ex.
Everything is oem besides the intake/exhaust/wheels.

Anyhow, her shifter is out of wack badly.
When you put her car in nuetral, its like it is in 3rd (normally).
Her car was fine, and how its like this....

I removed the center console to ensure nothing looked broken and to make sure nothing was loose. To me everything looked ok, except I did notice the white bushing that the shifter goes into looked cracked (--shifter--)

Anyone every have this problem before ?
I have a feeling it has something to do with the shift linkage. All gears engage just fine. The only thing that is wierd is the position of the shifter hence the shifter hits the center console & the shifter box its self in 1, 2, 5 gear etc.. So it makes it kind of hard to drive.

Any help would be appretiated.

^^ I agree, But if you dont want a short shifter, I'm positive there are many people willing to sell you their stock shifter.

I have a friend who's shifter was as stiff as a rusty hinge, I removed the center consol and shifted and the white ball looked as if was going to split in two and came close to hitting where it shouldn't, a little WD-40 fixed that problem it's been smooth shifting for over a year now...

Um anything in the engine bay messin with the tubes/wires

Cause i relocated my fuse box in the engine bay and i messed with some tubes which probably had shifter cables or something and it would pop out and not engage in some gears.
