Custom Intake?

Has anyone thought of doing a custom intake? Not a conventional one but something a little different. I have an 89 prelude 2.0si4ws also and almost anything you wanted had to be custom. I have a few ideas but just wanted to pick your brains. Let me know what you would do.

Looking for CUSTOM not store bought crap. I didn't feel like searching so I didn't. Sorry to bother you but I was looking for input on this topic not for someone to tell me to search but thanks for pointing out the obvious about the search stuff. I've used it before and its more of a hassle then its worth.

No I wouldn't go that cheap. I sell plumbing and hvac supplies so I have access to some cool stuff. Such as Hi-velocity A/C duct work and all kinds of piping so it will look good and I already had one that performed as well as my cheap sri. Looks aren't that important but something unique that works is.

Well what do you intend to do with it? Just make something that doesn't cost $200? Or do you intend to some how alter the routing, filter placement/size/environment and design of it enough that it'll actually do something.
What do you have in mind?

I have gone from a gustom intake back to the stock box within a month. Dont bother trying to make one. Youll feel no difference, and you wont feel much with a AEM either.

you can't get more custom than Boiler_Room 's USRI (ULTRA short ram intake)

no piping that lessens the amount of air available. even sounds better than a regular sri!

here is an 89 prelude just like you got with a custom intake. he is from the www.ohiohondas.com forum i visit and he posted this on there a while back. he says it is better than any other out there for his car, but i dont really see the difference between it any other SRI.

I think that is actually hurting you. The intake is engineered to increase air velocity when it travels through the piping. When it reaches your throttle body it's velocity has increased so you are pumping more air into the cylinders thus making more power.

What you are doing is sucking the hot air off of the engine and probably hurting your performance.

Buy a damn intake. Its easier, time and money wise. Plus, none of these guys will flame you.

bhahahaha that USRI is funny as hell. maybe hes trying for the ITB effect without the "I". if the enigne bay was cold enough (ie moving along having the air outside cool the engine bay) and at high revs, it COULDhelp cause itd have like no flow restriction (besides the tiny TB) that still is questiionable. hhaahha looks funy. what kind of filter ist hat?
