Question Steering Wheel

2003 Civic SIG, 12,000KM, had 6 wheel alignments in total so far and have changed my tires 3 times. I had my 6th wheel alignment done 1,500km ago, and once again my steering wheel is off center. I have not hit any potholes, what would cause this to keep happening. My car does not pull when driving but the whell is to the right. It always ends up going to the right . There is no point going back to get it fixed as I would have to take it in every other month. Any suggestions, I know its not the tires 4 sure... thanks for your help. All OEM stuff, have not lowered the car or made any changes

I'm not an alignment king or anything, but I'd suggest going through your whole front end and making sure everything is torqued to specs.

Also if you've got the service manual for your car (avaliable at your local Honda place for a ridiculous amount of money, but worth it if you're keeping the car) you can go through and check on the steering rack and make sure everything is within spec to include voltages/pressures on the steering assist package.

Other than that, you can try calling your local Honda and talking to some guy high up in the shop, like the shop supervisor and explain it to him and see what he has to say.

Its funny you said that, you are right. On one of my invoices it says torque suspension to spec, however it did not change anything. I was wondering if it’s the steering linkage, I’m at the point where I want to give the car back but I leased it. All I am asking for is it to be centered but for some reason it’s too hard for Honda

I'm not sure on leases and whatnot, as I've never leased a car myself, but I'd tell them I'm a dissatisfied customer. If they try to argue with you, remind them that you are the customer and it's ultimately your opinion that counts.

You have a nice new car and the wheel dosen't line up right; Thats unacceptable, even moreso under warranty.

I'd take the car out and go over some bumps like you have going into fast food places (the little 1 or 2 inch lips where the cement drive connects to the street) with the wheels turned pretty far so the bump puts pressure to the sides of the wheels. Do that then listen for anything banging or clunking when it shouldn't. You should also be getting a fair amount of feedback through the wheel. Do it in both directions if possible. Any general wierdness might give you a clue as to what exactly the problem is. It's evident something is not right and I'm going to point the finger of blame at something internal to the steering system.

After you get an alignment does the wheel end up straight again for a while?

Yes, when I get the wheel alignment its fine for about 1,000km and then it goes back to the right. My original problem was the car pulling to the right, from a stop to start position. That’s not a big issue but when I take it into Honda they tell me it’s the road. I drive the same route every day, I know if something is off. If im in the middle lane of the highway it should be straight and if im in the left lane it should be to the right and the right lane it would be pointing to the left. They think that I am dumb!! Im thinking it’s the way the tires are wearing. I have had it in so many times. It’s a NEW CAR. I know Hondas are supposed to be good cars.

Anyways, if it gets worse I will take it in.

I'd take it in anyway.

If Canada has a lemon law like some of our states do, you could probably convince the dealership that the car is a lemon. Something is obviously not right with the car to begin with. Honda's are good cars, but like anything and especially things so infernally complicated, there are bound to be issues here and there.

Do what ya think is best, and sorry I couldn't help ya more.
