Okay, so another question that I have been thinking about and can't seem to find a definitive answer to. Can you take a DOHC head from another honda engine, like a B16/B18, or anyother DOHC for that matter and manage to get it to fit and work on top of the D17 block?

My buddy keeps suggesting this, but my initial inclination is that this would be almost as difficult a prospect as a K20 swap. However, I do believe you can take a head off a B18 and insert it on top of a B16 block and it will fit nicely. So is there a possible way to do this with a D17 block.

So what do ya'll think? Possible? Plausible?

no... ibtl...never...

you should know that b-series engines only can be exhanged with other b series engines... same as k series... hard to say with out d series..

No you can not put a b16 or any head on your engine. But you can get a 1.7L VTEC head of a Si civic or EL Acura and use a VTEC controller. The problem with using other heads for other civic engines is that all the oil and coolant passages and bolts and so on. The only deference from a 1.7L VTEC and non VTEC engine is the head.
