halo damage prevention
halo damage prevention
my first post
just got some halo projector lights off ebay. haven't installed them yet. i understand there is a problem with halo LEDs blowing.
i've done my searching
especially

just wondering.. as a preventative measure to stop the halo LEDs from blowing can i just put a resistor there? i mean putting it on the outside wiring. i don't want to open up the lights if i don't have to.
how much would i need to drop the voltage? 14.5 is about the max voltage in a car... so i need to drop from 14.5 to 12? or is there already a resistor in there which does some dropping?
thanks

lol...umm i think you need to do more research. No there is no resistor in there that does dropping. Ok and you dont do 14.5 to 12, that would blow your led, unless you have the best led ever that acually can handle 12v....it cant, trust me. First find out how many ohms/volts your led is, figure out from the place you bought it from. Find the max and the min voltage needed for the led, then what i do is just pick a in between point. Say the led was 5v max led, 20 ohms and 3.5v to light up, i would just be safe and use 4v. SO say you do have an led like that, 14.5-4=10.5 10.5/.02=525. So you would need a resistor in that range, you can get a series of resistors to get close to 525 if you wanted. Well anyways i bet that was kinda confusing but if you dont get it then too bad
