taking off the head
This is some funny sh*t. You don’t know where the head of an engine…….Wow and you want to remove it……Wow. Head removal on 4 cylinder Honda is 7 out of 10. But putting it back together is like 10 out of 10. It is not hard to put it back together but it takes so much time. If the shop is going to put back the head back together and they will guarantee that if you bolt it back on your engine that it will work then it is not that hard. You will need a head gasket, intake gasket, exhaust gasket and silicone use for gaskets. And the most important thing you will need is help from someone that knows how to remove a Head.
All of this is done when the engine is cold
1. Remove spark plug wire cover
2. Take off your spark plug wires off to the side
3. Take off your spark plugs
4. Un bolt your exhaust manifold
5. Un bolt your intake manifold
6. Remove your valve cover
7. Use a 17mm socket on the crank pulley bolt and turn it counter clock wise
8. Set your timing to TDC
9. loosen your timing belt tensioner
10. remove the belt off your cam gear
11. remove head bolts starting from the center of the head
12. Take the head off it will be stuck try to pull it up on one side and work your way
13. After your head is all ported and all together put the new gasket back with some gasket silicone.
14. Put back all the head bolt back on just hand tight start from the center of the head
15. Get a torque specification on the head.
16. Use a Torque wrench to torque the bolts back their is a torque sequence that you will have to use.
17. Do the timing on the cam so the first cylinder in on intake stroke
18. After all that put back all the gaskets and all the other part back
19. Put back the timing belt and tensioner back in place
20. Do your timing
21. And at the end pray that you did not fu*k up and if you did call Honda tell them what you did so they can void your warranty.
