Serious Spark Plug DIY question..
Serious Spark Plug DIY question..
Ok..I just installed the spark plugs on my civic with a friend..the thing is is that he friggin..tightened it using the torque on the MM and not the foot/pound..and tightened those fragile spark plugs to around 33mm/pound...but when we found out...he re-tigtened them to 13ft./pounds...now will this have an effect on these spark plugs..? are they damaged now..would I have to buy new ones now..? I need knowledgeable advice please asap..

It won't really affect the plugs, but it may have damaged the threads around the plug. If he was able to retighten it, then everything is fine. I just tightened mine with a socket wrench until they were snug. Haven't had a problem since then.

Ok first of all, straighten out your units. You make no sense. Torque is force*radius. it has units in lb-ft or kg-mm or something like that. Not a radius/a force. Second, you're mixing British and Metric units. So sort it all out so someone can help you figure out just how much you overtightened or undertightened them.
