oem fog light switch
just want a simple question answered... thanks in advance... i want to buy the 0em fog light from tornactive.com... but someone said that swtich wont fit where the cigarettte lighter is.... because the switch is made for 01 civics and 02 civic wont fit correctly.. cause i have a 02 civic... anyways.... if i buy the 02 fog light switch from hondaautomotiveparts.com... then will it fit right in to the harness of the connectors from tornactiev????
I don't think the factory switch will fit the tornactive connectors. i have an 02 and the fogs are made from depo ( same as tornactive i think) and i looked at the factory switch and it has a different type of connector. u might be able to splice the wires from the fogs into the factory switch if u can find out which pins on the switch does what. but what i done on my is dermal out the hole and fit it in there. the hole on the 02 is smaller than the hole for the 01. on the 01 civics the hole is the same size as the cruse control switch.
From what I've seen of the Honda OEM switch, tornactive's harness will not work with it. As indicated above, you could do some splicing, or maybe even pick up the other end of the Honda harness and just rewire...

so my only option is to dremel the hole a little bigger to make the tornactive switch fit in??? how hard was it to dremel??? asian??? and also does it look messy???
I had the same problem, and since I passed the wiring harness from the engine bay into the car on the passenger side, I didn't have enough slack to have it reach the other side where teh cruise control and mirror buttons are located. So, I took some wires from an old Computer power supply, spliced the wires on the harness and used those wires to extend it. The button will fit on that side with little effort.
I'd think that because of the quality of plastic honda uses for that particular part of the centre console that taking a dremel to it would yeild poor results. And since there is no garnish going around the button the jagged/rouch edges would be exposed. Also, since the button used clips to stay in place, I'm not sure that enlarging the whole would be beneficial anyways if the button would stay in place.
I think your best bet is to do what I mentioned above if you feel up to it. Wires can always be spliced and spliced again but replacing parts is a pain in the ***.
Let us know what you decided to do and how it turns out!
