Both CAI and SRI?

I was talking to some honda guys at the dealership and asked them about warranty with CAI...they said they wont warranty the car if water gets in it...so they suggested I get a CAI that can turn into a SRI during the winter by changing something on it? Then vice versa for summer...have you ever heard of something like this...

uhm.. i guess if the cai was a 2 piece, you could possibly turn it into an sri by taking out the second pipe and putting the filter on the first part (like get the injen sri and buy the cold air extention and interchange them)

you might as well save money and go with an SRI from the beginning. they don't do anything (noticeable) for performance anyway, so if you keep it an SRI all the time it won't matter much...

AEM CAI has 2 pipes and can be turned into a SRI by removing the lower piping and putting the filter directly on the first pipe. The AEM Bypass valve also works if you completly submerge the filter in a puddle or river..etc

The intake piping needs to be cut as high up as possible and the bypass is put in. Under total suction (when the filter is submerged) it causes the rubber flaps on the bypass to open sucking air from the engine bay instead of sucking water into your motor and hydrolocking it.
You cant compress water, therefore bye bye motor....I've had a AEM CAI and gone through some pretty deep puddles (2yrs now) and i haven't had any problems...i woudn't worry about it unless you live in the swamplands and if you see a HUGE puddle (over bumper high) then just stay away from it...
Good luck

Dude stay away from Weapon-R. Bad news there, a lot of problems with their airl filters. Buy the best intake for our cars, the K&N FIPK2. It is made of plastic instead of metal, which lowers the heat of the intake charge. It also has a massive heatsheild making it only pull in cool air, even though it's a SRI. It also comes with a lifetime filter, the filter cleaning solution, and the filter oil. Very high quality kit, it comes with a dyno sheet showing the gains. I believe the gain was 4.3hp which is one of the best to date for our D17s. I had it on mine, made great midrange tourque and it pulled smoothly throughout the rpm range. I sold mine to my buddy because of my turbo kit. I also bought an EBAY intake and had that for a while, it was a two piece cold air. The short ram and cold air felt identical, both making noise and I lost a little bit of low end without getting much more topend. K&N man, you won't regret it.

i'd get the aem CAI. Even if you do totally destroy your motor (so unlikely you won't believe...), you can buy a D17 for like $600, so its not really big $$$. Yes, I have an ebay intake, but that's just because I'm cheap.

i have the AEM SRI and i'd much rather have the AEM CAI rite now, cuz the weather here in vegas is just waaaaaaaaay too hot...having a cold air intake would help me out, haha. too bad i have an auto though...i think only Injen makes CAIs for autos

The Injen Short Ram is always pretty good as well. I think that DC makes a CAI that can be transformed into a Short Ram. However, I don't know a single person that has it.

I just got the AEM CAI last week and installed it, yes you can convert it to SRI fairly easily, with two tools, for bad weather. Just go with AEM, it's a major brand name = backed by good customer service/good quality and it has proven dyno results, albeit small relatively speaking. I love mine!!!
