Question Quick 12v question

I'm trying to install my air/fuel guage, and ive read the diy by boilermaker. My question is Where is another 12 volt source that I can tap into for power. The cigarette lighter is already been tapped for my voltmeter, so I need an alternative. Also what does 12 volt equal in amps? Thanks

Under the menu on the right click on Vehicle wiring database...
you'll find extra 12V there

http://www.7thgencivic.com/modules.p...ase&file=index

You'd have to know what the resistance is to find out the actuall
amps on the wire you want to hook up too.

Use OHM's law to figure it out
I=R*V

or P=I*V

lowblue02 is an unknown quantity at this point
There is a 12v behind your radio but I dont think that is where you want to tap in to. There is another on under the stearing wheel but I am not sure of the color.

yes it would still be there, but it would probably draw to much current and blow a fuse. just use your accessory wire in your steering column. once you remove the steering column shroud you'll see all the exposed wires, look under the key cylinder and look for a large brown plug with the thick gauge wires, (the only thick wires are the one in this plug) i believe its a six pin harness. you don't want to use constant 12v because the gauge will never turn off completely where as accessory only runs with the key.

^^okay i though that the thick wire was a completely different harness. I figured the thicker the wire the more power it would produce, but i forgot that the amount of power depends on its source. So if i tap into the white wire in that harness than it should be okay?
