OK, I'm clearing my headlights as I type this. 03 SEDAN. Headlight is in my hands. This thing has tabs all around it with a freaking tough grey caulking. IT IS NOT COMING APART! Any ideas????????

yah man sedan headlights are tough to get open, maybe if your brave enough you can put them in the oven a little to heat it up nicely. or you can get some help in the canada east forum, theres quite a bit of people in the London area.

Putting them in the oven will soften the goo enough for you to just pull them apart. Just heat them up again when you're ready to put them back together.

hmmmm.................. obviously u have never read this DIY, or else u would see that it does.. and funny! to think about it, when this DIY came out almost a year ago! i did it with my 4dr so i guess it worked just fine. just because it dosent say put ur light in the oven or use a heat gun dosent mean it cant be done this way.

I have read the DIY several times before attempting to separate the headlights. The "goo" is quite dense and even seeps through the tabs making separation very difficult. If the headlights were to be put into an oven, what temperature and for how long????
Thanks
Thanks
The best thing to use is a heat gun. I did that but becareful it gets super hot. Once you clear it, you have to use cement glue and silicon. Once u glue it, silicon it and let it dry overnight. The next morning, silicon it again, if not then it will fog up inside. If you got any questions, PM me. I attached a pic of the finished product.
OMG, i have a 01 sedan and I started clearing the headlights right this minute. It is such a B!TCH. That thing is sealed tight, I just started taking of the top parts and my arm was already starting to hurt. I dont plan on finishing it tonight, but now its starting to stick back together!!!. This is a real b!tch man, how do you guys do it? I read the DIY, but still not helping me.
yea..
the oven is da best way to get those grey (still HATE them) glue off..
get a pair of gloves and ready to rip them apart once you take them out from the oven..
check often with your oven so that the headlights won't melt..

ive doen the sedan and the coupe and either way will work im sure hte oven might be a lil more dangerous , but you could get a more even warmth around the headlight, i did it on a hot day when the goo was nice and loose ....ok that sounded sooooo bad... and this is a forum for people to ask help for things man not to have some dufus say read the DIY , that is why im very rarely on here anymore .. the attitude
even though a very well written DIY can be misleading sometimes..
b/c it's da person who're reading it which makes the DIY useful..
not the other way..
if the DIY means everything..
i guess this section of the forum is useless..
i had problems/misunderstandings when i first cleared my headlights..
but there're many helpful members here helped me out..

Mine were pretty difficult too. I have a coupe. . Anyways. . I got the clips off. . That was the first step. . Then I took a tiny flathead screwdriver and slowly worked it into the crack that seperates the 2 sections. Just take your time and don't break the clips or get that goop all over. Slowly work the screwdriver method and they will eventually come apart.
lol, finally got it done! I didnt want to put my headlights in the oven, so I used a hair dryer. I opened it up a little bit with a flathead, then started applying heat with the hair dryer. The gooo just started to melt off. Much easier when it is heated. Thanks for everyones help.
. Now, to take apart my halo projectors.
