Or you can just downshift without rev-matching and let your clutch do the work. It will wear out faster but it works.

but that wouldn't save your sychro's at all... for me I only double clutch downshifting into 2nd, and 1st, becase they have such large gaps between rpms.

I learned to match revs during down-shifting for open tracking. Im sure its useful for autocrossing if the layout allows it. You lose previous time and traction (spinouts are not fun) if you shift before the tranny and engine catch up.

Doing it during normal driving is OK, and is good practice. But ultimately all you are going to do is wear out your clutch. I suggest using your brakes if you are only using it to stop/slow down your car. It's alot cheaper to replace your pads then to replace a pressure plate.

Just practice on your daily drive. When you're approaching a turn try not to brake. Step on the clutch, match the speed of your RPM by giving it some gas then shift to whatever lower gear you wanna go to (usually 3rd or 2nd) then release clutch.
Now one question, is it bad to give it gas while in a gear and having the clutch pushed down? Isn't like as if it was in neutral???
