Aem Pullies (searched for 2 hours)

Okay, i just finished reading about 12 threads on pullies. It smeems that some people think the aem pullie are alright...and other think that the UR ones are better. I have a 12 inch sub in my trunk but i'm probably only running about 300 watts too it. I want to know if the aem pullies will underdrive the car too much, therefore causing a drop in battery power. Also will the AEM pullies be detrimental to the alternator? The UR accessorie pullie do not underdrive correct? So if the AEM pullies will enderdrive the car too much to power my sub then the UR ones will be better? I read soo many different opinions about these pullies in other threads, but I just want to know specifically for my application. Also I dont want a crank pulley, because i've gathered that they may be detrimental to engine life. Is this true?
Thanks

If you only have a 300 watt amp i wouldn't worry about your battery dieing, as far as your engine life:

Vehicle manufacturers have thoroughly investigated the use of torsional vibration dampeners and conclude that their use significantly reduces NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). Furthermore, manufacturer and independent research shows that torsional vibration dampeners are critical to engine life where long-term use is intended. Removing the torsional vibration dampener from an engine can be highly detrimental to its long-term operation!

okay cool....but what does the UR pullies do compared to the AEM ones....im not talking about the crank pullie...just the accessories. They are just lighter?? SO therefore if i want to keep my alternator driving at a fast pace then the UR ones are the way to go?

AEM Tru- Power™ pulleys increase power by reducing Our lightweight pulleys reduce rotating weight and are slightly oversized to maximize efficiency, which nets more horsepower at the wheels. We guarantee our pulleys' belt tooth profiles to match O.E. specifications, eliminating any chance of premature belt wear. Comprehensive installation instructions, replacement belts and AEM decals are included in every kit.
I don't know the size difference between the AEM or UR, yet they are supposed to be bigger than stock. Which ones are better.....? Probobly the same since you are not getting the underdrive pulley. Your preference

Frequently Asked Questions (Unorthodox Racing Ultra Pulleys)

"How much horsepower and torque will I gain?"
Unorthodox Racing pulley sets on average can provide gains of 8 to 15 HP and 6 to 10 lbs.-ft. on normally aspirated engines and 10 to 18 HP and 10 to 20 lbs.-ft. on forced induction engines. Higher gains can be realized on vehicles that are modified. Dyno charts are available for viewing at Unorthodox Racing's website (Here's the Link: Dyno Charts )

"Do I need to use a different belt for the Ultra Pulleys?"
Yes, the belt sizes change when you install the underdrive crank pulleys. Because the pulleys are 15-20% smaller than the factory pulleys, the factory belt lengths are 2-3% longer than necessary. The installation instructions include the part numbers for the belts that are the most consistent for each model of pulley. In addition, belt sizing is available on Unorthodox Racing website (Here's the link:Belt Sizing ). The belts you will need are available from your local auto store.

"How easy is the installation?"
In most cases if you can change your oil or do a tune-up, then you can install the Ultra S crank pulleys. Each one of the underdrive pulleys comes with model specific installation instructions that cover everything from jacking up the car to the factory torque specification on the mounting hardware.

"I would like to see the installation document before purchasing"
You can view the installation instructions on Unorthodox Racing's website. Here's the link: Installation Instructions

"How about a crank pulley that is used as a harmonic balancer?"
A common misconception is that factory crank pulleys on certain vehicles are harmonic dampers. The Ultra Pulleys are lightweight, CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum and are by design "Zero" balanced. Because of this, owners have reported smoother engine operation with Ultra Pulleys. Unorthodox Racing has been manufacturing and selling pulleys for over 5 years without a single engine failure due to the replacement of the stock crank pulley. This is testament to the quality and reliability of their products.

"Will I have problem with belt slipage?"
Actually the anodizing will help to eliminate belt slippage. The belts have the same grip that they do with the stock pulleys.

"Will the pulleys void my factory warranty?"
Actually the answer is fairly complex. Automobile manufacturers state that if a specific component is not designed by them or an OEM supplier specifically for use on your vehicle from the factory, then the component voids your warrantee. This area has been a hotbed of controversy for years. SEMA has been working feverishly to protect owner’s rights on this issue because many aftermarket products are viable replacements if not better in design and function than the factory component.

"Are there any maintenance required for the pulleys?"
The only maintenance required is to check and replace the accessory belts at the manufacturers specified intervals. Other than this you basically bolt on the pulleys and forget about them.
