if you roll your windows down while racing does it hurt or help speed. my friend said it hurts because of the wind reduction. also what about the sun roof? does it help to tilt, close it, or open it?

dash components in these cars are light..if you go full race...remove airbag system...those things are heavy.. passangers side airbag is about 20 lbs. then, make sure you only have enough gas for the event, drain the rest.

Must be different for straightlining than autocross. I race with everything open. Windows down, sunroof back, rear seats down, passenger seat folded back, why you ask???
Cuz it moves all the weight as low as possible and it moves it back. Moving the 60lb sunroof down an inch may not do much, but moving it the 2' or so to the back of the roof is 60 more lbs behind the centerline of the car. Putting all the seats down just helps get the weight as low as possible, same for the side windows. The other reason I drop the windows is cuz I feel like I can see better. I also don't have to worry about hitting the window with my helmet if I get jarred.

^^^ All you are doing is making sure everything is at the center point of the car to equally distibute weight. Thats is good for Autox. When going in a straight line, wind that enters the car reduces the speed so it takes up more gas to go the same speed than with the windows up. I do this a lot, which is why I get sh!tty gas mileage some times. The term is "Drag".
