Tech engine question

Ok neither of us really know much, SO here it goes

Im talkin to a guy that lives near me, he's got a D17 motor he might let me have with internals done....something like new pistons, and springs, retainers. valves.
I want the motor. His motor has 28k miles on it
My motor has 12k on it....I asked him about a swap since he wants to sell the car...How much should i pay him to swap motors? What seems reasonable

meth is an unknown quantity at this point
make it an even trade and split the swaping cost (if you're not doing it yourselves) .. you do have less miles... but his has internals... fair trade.

you think the 16k miles less is worth pistons, springs and vavles? i have no idea how much swaps cost. i usually do it myself. never did it on a honda before though.

Between 1000 or 1500 is about right. Ive never done a swap, but I would like to try when I get a K20

Is he trading in the car or selling it privately? I only ask because the dealerships will check the stamp on the motor...I don't know from experience but I did see a guy get screwed because it wasn't the original motor. Private sale = who cares, do the swap! Good luck...
