Octane Front Q's???

ok, i have the octane front, well, i had it on there, and i hit a cat, and it cracked it along the lower lip, and pulled one of the mounting screws, this happened a while back, and i began thinking that it could be repaired (the honda place had to repair it before where they cracked it)... anyway, i have talked my dad, whom used to do body work into helping me fix it, he is good at getting it real slick and all that, but i wanna make sure i know what im doing before i go out and buy the stuff to make the repairs... i want the non-weave mat correct? (white rabbit told me before in the ICE forum that the weave isn't quite as strong as the non-weave (glass where you can actually see the fiber particles)... my actual question on this is does the upper grille (near the hood release lever) actually serve a purpose other than accessability to the hood latch mechanism? if not, im thinking about glassing the majority of it up and leaving a small area (kinda like on the RSX blitz kit) for accessability to the hood mechanism... also, the two side holes (i suppose for mounting fogs), do they serve a purpose? if not i also want to either make them one large opening or doing away with the top one all together... thanks
