Dunno about that. There is no JDM Type S and the CTR engine doesn't count since a JDM ECU won't work with a USDM engine anyway. There are also a few differences between the CTR and Type S engine (such as the CTR one runs at a higher compression ratio).

I think I'll either get the hondata or mugen ECU.

not sure if i said this before, but i like hte potential of hooking up an LCD panel to act as my gauge cluster (like mugen had on their concept civic Si).

mmm....LCD....

Just remember that hondadata just flashes the stock ECU. Mugen comes with a brand new ECU.

I think jet also has one, but doesnt raise the rev limiter and some other things (I think). Where are you thinking of getting the engine? I want to find a junked or totaled RSX-S that has no engine damage so I can swap it in. I also want the disk brakes, seats and some other stuff. I just got to keep watching and waiting. Good luck with the setup, what ever you decide on. Are you swaping it yourself?

GreenCivic: nope, not gonna do the swap myself.

I'm a bit scared to do it myself. Plus, I don't have a lift or any friends that work at a garage

but...I already stuffed the rear brakes from an SiR (Si) into my baby

mmm...rear discs

this is half the reason why I don't wanna go to the five bolt. the other half of the reason being that I just got new rims, and I don't wanna toss them already.

NoBottleJustThrottle: so can I bug you next summer for one?

question about the ecu????
Can the ecu be changed out with a JDM ecu for the type-r engine..... aftermarket is large in Japan and I am sure it will be on the market before too long.....am I worng. Maybe the Type -s would be better after all?!.?!.?! If anyone knows or has a hook up with either type-r or type-s engine let me know I would like to have this done before next spring.

Great, thanks NoBottleJustThrottle!

I too am trying to get out of the debt which is school...but I make enough money that I should have the engine swap money by next spring.

gotta love a disposable income: living with your parents for as long as humanly possible is great hehehe

I plan on living with them until I'm 26 (I'm 23 now). hehehe

mmmm...disposable income hehehe

Same here. How much time do you have left in school (not to get off subject)?

well, i've just finished my fourth year in a five year program (comp sci with honours, and co-op)...but my co-op turned into a real job, and because i slacked in school, i would have to go for another TWO years to complete the degree (B.C.S. Honours).

so instead, I'm gonna go part-time school this year (2 courses each semester), and take physics next summer (only the second half of it), and be done in almost exactly a year.

the sweet part about going part-time school is that I can keep working real hours and make real money hehehe

so...essentially, I plan on paying off the school debt starting now (just slammed down another 1G today), and do the swap next spring!

can't wait!

in the meantime: gonna do as MUCH research as possible so that when it gets time to do the swap, I will know EXACTLY what it is I'm gonna do.

people keep tempting me with a turbo idea, but I think the NA route is much safer and a bit more respectable.

how much longer are you in for, Green Civic?

Go to Honda-tech.com right now. In their DC5/EP3 forum, someone is selling two of them for 5 grand EACH plus shipping. I'm too lazy to go fetch the thread for you, sorry.

I don't get your question about the ECU. If you're asking if you can put in an aftermarket ECU that's NOT a flash of the stock one, sure. As long as it goes with the engine, all will be fine.

I remember some dummy ordered an JDM ECU for his RSX-S carrying a uSDM K20A2. What a waste.
