Neons and relays and parklights oh my - HELP PLEASE
Hey guys, my limited electronics knowledge has failed me, please help:
I received underbody neons as a present from a friend in thanks for prepping his car for Darknights (Streetglow Blue Line, I know, GOLD is the way, but don't diss they were free). I mounted and tapped them into the 12V adapter so that way they could only be switched on when the key is at least in the accessory position. They have so far served me well, and it's most satisfying to have been able to install them solo, but I just read the DIY on here about wiring them to the parking lights so that they flash when the keyless entry is activated remotely.
The thing is I want the neons to flash with the parklights when i activate/deactivate my alarm, but I drive most of the time with the neons off (damn cops). So if I were to follow the DIY I read (which simply consisted of wiring power from driver's parklight to switch to transformer), then if I were to park with the switch off and depress the keyless entry button, the neons would not flash. Again I drive 90% of the time with the neons off.
As such I want to wire my neons where they flash with the parklights regardless of switch position when there is no key in ignition, but at the same time when I turn on the car (key position 1 or 2) I can turn the neons off and on with my current switch. I know relays are involved but they are a little over my head. Can anyone help? Thanks!

diode isolate the wire that your alarm uses to flash your lights, then make that the ground on your relay, give it 12v+ and when your parking lights flash this will activate the coil. then 30 can either provide 87 with a ground or a positive, depending how you wish to run your neons

i got your PM, i believe i will be collecting my reward.
your relay has this: |-represents a wire tab.
| 85 |87
|87A
| 86 |30
say youre gonna run your neons with a positive trigger, you can connect 85 and 30 to 12 v constant positive fused. connect the signal wire coming from the alarm, which is probably a ground pulse, to 86. connect 87 to your positive line on your neons.
since 85 is positve, the negative pulse on 86 will energize the relay and it in turn connects 30 (common) to 87. So in essence, youre connecting a positive source to your neons. ENJOY!
