You are correct. The SRS light will be on and STAY on until you replace the airbag. Even if you reset it it will stay on. What I did when I installed my Sparco Lap 3 is I took apart the guage cluster and put electrical tape over the little hole where the SRS light comes out of (it's an LED on a circuit board almost impossible to get to). At first I thought it was a light bulb that I could take out, but it's more complicated than that

Anyway, I was so annoyed by the SRS light I just had to do this. ANd the reason that the SRS light will stay on when reset is that the airbag is not detected and therefore will keep setting the trigger off for the light.

Hope that helps

go to the DIY on changinng the odometer color. I think you can get to the SRS bulb from there. When i replaced my belt with the 4 point harness, i removed the OEM belt/buckle assemblies as well and my SRS light is on also.

What the SRS computer is looking for is the resistance of the bag on that wire (the orange or yellow ones).

Now be really careful, always point the seat belts and steering wheel away from you as they things DO EXPLODE! The steering wheel shoots out a bag, the seat belt increases tension.

Measure the resistance of the seat belt or air bag with an OHM METER only. Put a resistor of that value on the wires in the car. Reset the SRS and no more light.

How do I know this? I worked for a company that installed wheel chair lifts in cars. Sometimes they removed a seat, so they triggered the SRS light. We did this on all the cars and the rest of the system will still work, and no light.

As I stated before...There is NO BULB. The SRS light is an LED on the circuit boad behind the guages that emits light through a plastic tunnel to the overlay for the guages and hits the SRS stencil cutout. You can't just take it out either. There is really no way to get to it unless you took the circuit board off of the guage cluster. Then, de-solder the LED.

i agree with mig. i rather live through and accident than try and look cool with a pimp steering wheel.

trust me 2 surgeries, over 25 stitches, i stand behind air bag and seatbelt safety. wanna know why, email or pm me.

This isn't a thread on whether or not you aprove of removing airbags. Voice your opinions on that subject somewhere else. This thread is for information.

you're right SQCivic - I apologize.

it would definitely suck if you're best friend or girlfriend is driving, dies in the accident, and you with your passenger side airbag survive. then you get to think about how they might have lived if you had left the driver's airbag alone.

opps SQCivic, I did it again. I apologize.
