Honda Civic Hybrid transmission won't move the car
Honda Civic Hybrid transmission won't move the car
All of a sudden my wifes 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid won't move. It acts like the transmission is in neutral, no change shifting into any gear position. My first thought was that the shift cable from the shifter to the transmission might have broken. I checked that. When you move the shift lever, the cable moves the lever on top of the transmission. This happened all of a sudden. She was going around a corner, very slow at her place of work parking lot and the drive to the wheels just went away. She had to have it pushed into a parking space. There have been no noises or other signs of malfunction. I need help.

Re: Honda Civic Hybrid transmission won't move the car
It's a well known failure where the flywheel spline teeth that make it grab the transmission shaft get worn out and fail suddenly when the leftovers aren't enough to handle the torque. Unfortunately it's an expensive part and a good two days worth of work to open up the bell housing between the tranny and the motor.
