Scratched CD/Radio display panel

Hi there,

I hope someone out there can offer me advice. I had my Hybird professionlly cleaned the other day. They come to you, so I just let him clean etc while I was inside at work. I left work late that day...

The following morning I noticed a large scratch across the middle of the radio/cd display panel. I am so pi$$3ed off!!!

I called my Honda dealer, who advised that they will have to replace the entire radio for AU$1900+labor+tax.

All it is is a scratch across the display, otherwise everything still works.

Can I buy replacement components??

Otherwise I'll have to go through my insurance company.

Thanks

holy hell that's high!!!!!!!!!! dont let them do the labor it's super easy to do yourself i promise.. i'd say get aftermarket unless you have nav..... 'cause you'll end up w/ a better radio if it's w/o nav.. esp for that much.. i know aus dollars are worth lesss than us dollars but that's still high

Word. Dont got through insurance for that. It ait worth it. Save it for a real scrath on the car or something.

Like 05blkrs said. Just go aftermarket. Unless if you must really have the OEM one again just find one on ebay or something. and the DIY on that is really simple.

Agreed, aftermarket is the way to go and see it as a way to get a better HU

Sorry to hear about the scratch BTW, would have pissed me off something serious!

Why not have the people who scratched it, reimburse you for the replacement if aftermarket. I would insist on it and if they don't work with you, report them to the BBB (better business bureau), etc.

Well I got another price, but Honda cannot seem, so far, to get me a price just for the scratched display. The rest of the dash is fine - its just the top display panel. In the Australian version we dont have the sat nav pack (we are 400 yrs behind).

The latest price I have is AU$820. I have sent a photo of the damage to Honda to ask for that specific part only to be replaced.

Surley a piece of plastic/glass that big cannot cost the earth!

i agree.. maybe post a pic on here and re-list the exact model and everything under the pic and maybe someone here can help you out.. either that or go ahead and do a aftermarket radio.. for that much money, i can get you a NICE radio.. pre-wired already inside a dash instalation kit...

Here is a close up of the scratch on the display panel. In Australia we don't have XM radio so the that option is unfortunately not available.

Well I have had a glass repairer guy come and look at it, he couldn't fix it.

Other Honda dealers I have spoken to have said that they cannot order in the screen cover as a seperate component, therefore the only option is to get the radio dashboard component replaced.

This seems a little extreme but it will be covered by insurance.

I am so pi$$3d off that this happened to my baby.

Well the cheapest price I have is AU$792.25 to replace the entire radio component of the dash, inc labor and tax.

It will be going through insurance. You would think that plastic would not cost so much....
