launching 07 si question.

Ok, so I was talking to a friend today about getting the best launch off the line, and he said that if you have it in gear while your stopped and floor it all the way with the clutch in, that it wont redline, but stutter around four and a half grand, so you just drop the clutch.. I cant remember what he called it, but I wanted to ask someone who would know more before i tried it. Thanks

yea.. it's a honda feature... it's actually too low of a rpm for a good launch.. there's a way to disable it, but idk on the new civics

4500rpms is a great rpm to launch most hondas unless your boosting...you launch much higher than that and you will wheel hop and wont hook up the power.......this is how you launch

first put it in first gear and keep clutch depressed and bring your motor to desired rpms...in this case about 4500rpms...then when your ready to go release the clutch and do yo thang if done properly you should launch good but trust me 4500rpms is plenty high and possibly too high for stock tires and suspension...if you has really sticky tires or slicks and good suspension setup and or traction bars then you probably could luanch higher and benefit from doing so
