Break in question for SI

I just got my SI ep about three days ago. Its got 155 miles on it!!! WOOO, anyway when is a good mileage point for the true power from the SI? I haven't really "got on it" yet and was wondering when will I really feel the VTEC kick in?

give the car a good 1000 miles until you lay into it.....but also I stress you to go outside and check your oil level RIGHT NOW. At 400 miles i was a quart low. Within the first 3000 or so miles you have to keep VERY careful eye on the oil level. You won't feel the vtec kick in. It has no exhaust side vtec. Hate to say it...but we just have a normal honda engine with ivtec badging.

Oh well....our 2 lober (cam) still kills the 99-00 high end vtec off the line....and with equal drivers stay right there.

When I bought my Si they told me to give it 500 miles before punishing it and don't change the oil for the first 5000 miles and don't replace the filter when I change the oil and then change the oil every 3000-5000 miles.

I just bought a new Si, SiR here in Canada.
My dealer told me to be easy on it for 1000 KM. Avoid cruise control, etc. Then at 10,000 KM the computer can be reset following its break in period. I was told the car will react totally different after the computer reset.

Thanks for the advise guys. A nice road trip help with the break in very nicely. I have just under 5000 miles now and I'm going to honda for my first oil change tomorrow. My car has a lot more pick up. And adfter my first oil change I've been told it will run even strong due to the additives in the oil it comes with from the factory for the break in period.

i only broke my car in at 200 miles then i let it rip!
at 700 miles i installed hondata flash, hondat heatsheild gasket and a AEM CAI at 1100 miles i raced it at the drag strip and got 15.6 (redlined it at 8000) car is running better than before.

I take my car passed redline every day since 200 miles, and nothing wrong with it, i check my oil every few days. Same spot every time, since i race my car im going to get oil change at 2000 mile mark

i work at honda dealer ship and my co-worker (mechanic) said I dont have to break in my car. He said the engines these day are so up to date (specially hondas) all the parts and stuff dont need breaking in. And the engines are already tested and stuff before they are put into car and tested some more after put into the car before delivered to dealerships.

break in period is bs.... thats what i think, and was told by a alot people

I actually only waited 700 miles till I went to the track. It sucked. I ran like 16.8 and that was it. I was stock at the time. At about 8000 miles with my short ram intake on, I ran a 16.3. Then at about 10000 with the short ram intake and hp header I ran a 15.5 with progress springs and stock wheels/tires in really cold weather at about 50 degrees out. Then at about 16000 I had injen cai, hp header, and comptech exhaust with the 17" rims and ran a 15.5, but in 93 degree weather

I need to get a camera to post some pics of my car.
I haven't had my car on a drag strip yet but I have done some SOLO 2 laps. I was running on a road coarse at the Shannonville Raceway in Shannonville, Ontario. My cars suspension is still stock but the car was awesome. So far I've only changed the wheel and tires to a set of !7" Khumo Escta 712's, K & N Typhoon CAI, and a Vibrant Cat-Back Exhaust System. The changes have made a big difference in power. There is a street legal drag event in 2 weeks that I'm thinking of trying. If there are any other suggestions that anyone has tried and liked let me know.
