Hi all I just purchased a 98 civic ex from the original owner with only 45000 miles original. The timing belt maitance says 105,000 miles or 7 years. This car was owned by a 55 year old school teacher and was bought new. I now the consequences of a interfering motor if the belt lets go. So my question is has anyone seen a timing belt with this mileage/years actually dryrot and crack. Im getting prices of about $500.00 with waterpump and 3 drive belts included with all honda parts ( new) What would you do??? thanks

what do you think it will cost to fix the valve train when the pistons smashes into it?
