What makes that sound?
Ok, this is probably going to sound dumb to you all but I was curious about something...
Why do some car's sound so, uhhhh, loud?
Like I see cars around town all the time that A) Look like paul walker should be driving them [not my cup o' tea] and B) Sound like a noise violation waiting to happen. What exactly makes it that loud?
Just keep in mind I know NOTHING about car's, but I am trying to learn.

Umm. . there are a variety of things that make cars loud.
Do you mean old pieces of crap, or modded cars?
Old = bad exhaust, or no exhaust, valve problem, compression issues. Some cams are loud, some cars just have big gas guzzling V8s that make a lot of noise.
Modded Import= upgraded header, intakes, exhaust, turbo.
Modded Domestic = glass packs, upgraded exhaust, cams, superchargers.
