I think this is how you do it. Just going from memory.
With the car OFF. Key can be in ignition but do not turn it.
Push and hold the trip reset button in.
(hold it in for about 15 seconds)
then start the car. (Still holding the reset)
continue to hold it until the light goes off.
(should be about 15 seconds)
then turn the car off.
Now start the car and confirm that it worked.
