is right hand drive crazy?

anyone have any idea how expensive it is to change from left hand drive to right hand drive? it's not so much of a big deal on time... i have all the time in the world and the patience of a thousand buddhist monks... so if it's hard or time consuming i really don't care... just how much would it cost and anyone know of any threads that might help or some links that could give me a general idea or specific ideas of how to go about doing this?

so, why in the hell would you want to do this?? RHD is cool because it's "mad JDM, yo" but if you convert to that, you'll just be a ricer.

Not to mention that you would be banned from all Fast Food and Bank Drive-thrus or forced to go through them in reverse.

well i don't mind the fast food and bank drive thru's but i'm left handed already and i think it would be more suitable for me to drive with my right hand and shift with my left... besides i broke the lock on my driver side door and i've been having to get into my car through the right side and i think it's kind of cool... besides i think it would be crazy to get in the right side and trip people out... not so much for the JDM effect...

So you're saying that you are willing to spend in excess of $8-$10K on a LHD to RHD swap, partly because your Driver's side door lock is broken? Why don't you just get the door lock fixed for like $50?

no i already fixed the lock this morning but for the time it was broken i enjoyed jumping in through the passenger side... and what technically defines changing LHD to RHD "ricer" besides the original question was how much am i looking at if i decided to do the swap... but if you're saying 8-10k then i'm not doing it... just curious as to how much it would cost...

well man u gotta think finding a clip for a 3rd gen is going to be very very hard. same as finding one for a 7thgen i know ive looked (for a 7thgen) but that being the 1st obstacle ud need to over come. then ud have to either cut the car in peices and weld in the new clip or cut out the firewall and weld that in. then theres a ton more to go into it. imo its not worth it it would probably be easier to import a rhd one already

if you want to do it, then waste all the money doing it and post pictures! there are hundreds of threads of people asking what can be done, but they have no serious intention of ever EVER doing it.

Talk to Cici at Atomic. He's got connections in Japan hence his RHD Civic hatch and 180SX sylvia conversion.

you should ask yourself one question when posting threads in this forum... is your question stupid. if you need to think about this, please dont post. despite what you have heard throughout your entire life, there are such things as stupid questions. please refrain from posting if your question is retarded.

Why is said question stupid??? If I had the money I'd definately look into an RHD conversion.

if said question is stupid or retarded wouldn't that make you even more stupid or retarded for responding to said question... please refrain from being so critical about some one's opinions or question... besides maybe you never heard of "knowledge is power" and knowing something before doing it makes a hell of a lot more sense than just jumping head first into it.... sorry if i wasted your time by making you read this but then again, you wasted your own time by opening it and undoubtedly responding to this...

Maybe I can change your mind about this RHD thing. Yes its JDM, and its cool. Think about it this way. North american roads were designed to LHD cars. Now image yourself at a stop light making a left hand turn. Let's say there are on coming cars at the stop light making left hand turns as well. Imagine trying to see if there are any on coming cars, especially now that your on the right side of the vehicle, trying to make a left handed turn.

If you don't think that's difficult. Sit in the passenger seat of a friends car, and observe while he/she makes a left handed turn, try to see how good your view is from there.

If that doesn't convince you that its a stupid idea. I don't know what will. Not only is it a stupid idea, its also a dangerous idea.

i understand how it all works... but what's the point in living if you aren't doing it dangerously right? i mean it's not like we all like to soup up our cars to drive speed limit... isn't that just as dangerous doing 60 in a 30? or hit max speed on the freeway? that's probably more dangerous than sitting in a passenger seat driving... besides if it were THAT dangerous nobody would have a license... driving instructors don't teach you how to drive from the driver's seat... they teach you from the passenger seat... they may not be driving but they are paying attention to everything you are doing from their seat... besides it's an opinion... you may think it's "stupid" but to me it's something different... hell if i lived in Japan i might want to drive RHD just to be one of the few RHD's...

My clip came from japan 40k on engine and tranny.
Font clip 3.3k
swap price 3K.
Parts that will be left over and sold 4.2k so I only spent 2.1k for everything

Do what you want, if want to go for, I'm not here to stop you. My car is not fast, and most of the board have slow cars anyways. We don't all modify cars to go fast. My car is slow as stock, but I could careless. If I wanted a fast car, I would have bought one.

btw, I never said driving was that dangerous, all I stated was RHD car at a stop light making a left is very dangerous because of your view. If you want to live dangerously, why don't you jump out of a plane without a parachute. Driving is general is not living dangerously.

Do what you must though.

well, living "dangerously" is fine as long as it doesn't endanger other people who perfer to live safely.
