02 Civic SiR/Si K&N Intake System
02 Civic SiR/Si K&N Intake System
I have a 2002 Civic SiR and over a year ago installed a K&N Typhoon intake system. After install, I noticed a very loud "poping" or backfiring originating from somewhere below the accelerator pedal. In fact I could feel it through the pedal itself. Honda Canada said get rid of the intake and K&N said have another shop check the problem. K&N said I had an leak somewhere that was allowing fresh air into the exhaust system and it was combusting. Two different Honda shops checked out the problem and could not figure out where the "pop" was coming from or why. Both said get rid of the intake.
Anyone else expereince a similar problem? Any solutions? Is the intake system worth the extra punch and sound at the possible expense of future engine problems?
Thanks,

i think u should try and go some where else besides honda.. if you went to some local tunner shop like here in vancouver g5, ak autoworks, etc... they could take a better look... because since its honda doing the check, they will say anything that is not there is wrong.. esp if its a bolt on product.

my bro has it on his rsx (same engine) and doesn't have popping. I don't see how an intake can even make that noise. Just make sure all the connections are tight.
