Price For Si Motor?

Last night I went out to the Drags and friend was there who has an 02 Si. He told me that he is going to get the RSX Type-S motor, so I asked him what he was going to do with his Si motor. He asked if I wanted to buy it, so I asked him how much. He didn't give me a price. He told me to come up with a price, but he said that he won't sell it for $1,000. It only has 10,000 miles also! And all he has is just a SRI. Can someone tell me if this is a good opportunity? Has this been done before WITH an Si motor? How big of an improvment would this be for my EM2? And can someone give me a good price which is low, but he will take the money? THANKS

If I had your car I would...yours is lighter and yes this has been done before. I'd ask 2000 for it, then if he wants more, don't go more than 2500, because after that you might be able to look into a type s motor.

This may be a stupid question to some people but... Since the Si rally-style shifter in the dash, can I still have the Si tranny since my shifter is traditional?

Oh yeah, his Dad is a mechanic I think, and he said that he would even sell it to me with either a port-polished head or intake manifold, I forgot

yeah, it still works....I can't remember where, but there's a site that goes into detail about installing a k20a2 into your car...the k20a3 should be much different.

Here's some other links
in the middle of the page: http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showt...?threadid=3789

Half way down this page of this url, you'll see some detail about this motor in your car

that would be awsome if you get the motor...talk about sleeper! also later down the line...if you feel like you wanted the type s motor, all you really need is the type s head to switch it over...of course the ecu reprogram also. that's another big gain...and if you want all motor, get the toda internal package...it's good for 225whp and 150wtq on the K20a2

I wouldnt pay no more than 2200 for an si motor now. the price has been going down and will continue to. i say 2000 is a good price. The k20a2 goes for about 2700-3100 now. For more information try going to some of these sites

www.ephatch.com
www.k-series.com
www.clubrsx.com
www.hondawerx.com
www.hasport.com

I hope that helps you find what youre really looking for. And dont forget that the motor is not the only thing that you will have to buy to swap the motor. There seems to be an endless amount of things you have to buy. Good luck
