Rep Power: 0 30,000 mile checkup
Hello i have a 2011 honda civic LX sedan and the honda dealership wants 400 for the 30,000 mile checkup. In an honest opinion is it really needed and also what all NEEDS to be done at 30,000 miles on my car. and how much should it cost me.

The owners manual says nothing of a 30000 checkup. So far iv been told i need
oil change
Trannsmition flush
Tire rotation
Air filter replacement
Chassis lube
Brake Fluid change
anything more? or anything on that list not really needed?

$400 seems a bit extreme...
Well, not really for dealership, when they charge $60 for an oil change.
Transmission flush is definitely not necessary @30K; simple drain and fill will suffice.
Tire rotation is routine maintenance. Brake fluid change isn't really necessary.
You can have pretty much everything on that list done for about $50 in your own garage.

You could likely go longer on brake fluid as mentioned. Mine was at 4 years, and had pads done at same time. (75K)
Pay for ATF drain and fill, oil change and rotation. Then buy the 2 filters and change yourself. Super easy on 8th gen.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 30,000 mile checkup
Open the owners manual.
Read all about the "Maintenance Minder" system.
If you follow that, oil changes and tire rotations are quite regular. Then you would have had filters around 25k, then the ATF service probably comes up around 30k-ish.
Read about other recommended services, like the brake fluid/3 year interval.
Does it need tires yet? If they are still decent, do they need balanced?
Does it need aligned?
Does it need brakes?

Re: 30,000 mile checkup
I've seen ATF come up between 30-40k on something.....but now IDK if it really was a Civic or not. Dangit, I can't keep track of this stuff.
At work we recommend ATF at 30k regardless of the MM suggestion.
