Rep Power: 0 Your Oil and Filter Combination currently...
My 09 Civic-lxs is due to oil change(17K) and i plan to buy filter and oil and have mechanic change them. This would be first time me taking for oil change
I know we have lots of discussions out here on which are best etc,I am putting it in another way.
What combination of filter(if part# great...) and oil you guys have on your drive.
Thanks in advance

I use Mobil Super 5000 5w-20 with a Purolator filter
At my Walmart, they have a filter finder where you just punch in your car model and it tells you what filter to get.

2002 civic EX, redline 5w30, LC20 additive, amsoil EA15K13 filter. easily good for 10k miles or one year conservatively. i dont always like changing oil, but when i do, i prefer redline lol.

2010 Civic LX
Mobil 1......5W30 full synthetic motor oil / 15,000 mile......................$9.50/qt...........Pep Boys
Mobil 1 M1-110 extended performance oil filter......................................$12.00/Amazon.com
4 ounces LC20 + an additional ounce every 1000 odometer miles........$1/application...Lube Control
My attitude changed after reading somewhere on this forum (someone posted)
"Why would you use expensive engine oil, and then try to save money using a cheap-o oil filter?"
Also, came to believe that I could use 5W30 without hurting my ride, in addition to manufacturers suggested 5W20

Ido not want to go the synthetic route,i dont drive much and plan to change oil every 3000 miles.
I have almost zeroed down to Honda OEM filter/purelator pureone filter
Oil still waiting for more feedback.

pure one is superior to honda filter. for regular oil, just about anything would work esp with changing so frequently. even the manual says 7500 miles for conventional oil. i wouldnt go that far, but 5000 miles on regular with no additives is very reliable. or 10k with lc20 added.

Ideally i would like to change oil and filter at same time.,,Hmm i think after this oil change i would look for next one @ 5000 miles or minder light comes on.
My previous owner did oil change and sticker says next due on 17,642...
I brought @ 15,00 or so miles

if you get the amsoil filter part i posted, it is rated for 15k miles or one year, whichever comes first. most normal oil filters should be fine at least 5k miles if not more.
